Signum Staff Mobile App

Signum, a luxury hotel chain with properties across multiple continents, aimed to elevate its guest experience by modernizing staff operations. Their reliance on manual processes and fragmented systems led to delays in critical services like check-ins and room service requests, with response times averaging over 15 minutes, undermining their reputation for excellence. The project focused on creating a custom mobile app to centralize task management, integrate with existing hotel systems, and empower staff to deliver seamless, high-quality service. By prioritizing usability, real-time functionality, and multi-language support, the app aimed to reduce response times, improve staff coordination, and enhance guest satisfaction, aligning with Signum’s commitment to luxury and innovation in hospitality.

Challenges

Signum’s operations were hindered by manual processes and fragmented systems, which caused significant delays in guest services, with response times often exceeding 15 minutes due to miscommunication between departments. The lack of real-time updates in existing systems led to errors, such as missed room service requests, further impacting guest experiences. Additionally, the diverse staff, spanning multiple languages and skill levels, required an intuitive interface that minimized training needs while supporting accessibility in various operational environments, including areas with limited connectivity.

Solutions

A centralized dashboard was designed for real-time task management, integrating seamlessly with hotel CRM and IoT systems to provide instant updates on guest requests and room statuses. Offline functionality was built to ensure usability in low-connectivity areas, with automatic data syncing upon reconnection, addressing operational challenges in large properties. Multi-language support and accessibility features were incorporated to cater to diverse staff, ensuring the app was intuitive and required minimal training, thus enhancing adoption and efficiency.

Our Approach

• Discovery Phase: Held workshops with hotel staff (front desk, housekeeping, concierge) to map critical workflows and pain points. Analyzed existing systems to identify integration requirements with CRM and IoT devices.

• Design & Development: Created wireframes prioritizing speed and clarity, with a focus on one-tap task actions. Developed a sleek, upscale UI reflecting Signum’s luxury brand. Built the app using React Native for cross-platform compatibility, with APIs for CRM and IoT integration.

• Collaboration: Collaborated with Signum’s IT and operations teams to ensure secure data handling and system interoperability. Engaged staff in iterative testing to refine usability.

• Testing & Validation: Conducted usability testing with 30 staff members, achieving a 95% task completion rate. Performed load testing to ensure the app handled 500 concurrent users without performance degradation.
